Thursday, June 29, 2023 – The Mountain Brook Schools Board of Education met last Thursday afternoon at Charles Mason Board of Education Building for the district’s monthly board meeting. Below is a rundown of the meeting:
Board members present: Jeffrey Brewer, Jenifer Kimbrough, Nicky Barnes, Anna Comer and Daniel Odrezin

Board Meeting Agenda

The meeting opened by approving minutes from the last board meeting (May 22).

Annual Meeting:

• Election of Board Officers: President: Jenifer Kimbrough

• Election of Board Officers: Vice President: Jeffrey Brewer

Reports to the Board:

Brasfield and Gorrie’s Mike Culwell presented the monthly construction update to board members. Then, the MBS CSFO Kari Austin presented the board members with the school district’s monthly financial statements which were unanimously approved. Austin also presented the FY 23 Final Budget Amendment which was unanimously approved. Lastly, the addition of one School Resource Officer (SRO) in the district was unanimously approved.

Old business:

The 2023-24 Board Meeting calendar was approved.

New business:
The board unanimously approved the latest personnel changes and unanimously approved miscellaneous items as surplus so that they can be discarded/donated/sold.

The board then approved the Mountain Brook Schools HVAC Equipment Replacement.

June announcements:

The next Board Meeting will take place on Monday, July 17th at 3:30 p.m. at the Mountain Brook Board of Education (Charles Mason Building).
