MBS Robotics Teams Compete at World Championships


  • Tuesday, May 16, 2023 – Mountain Brook robotics students traveled to Dallas at the beginning of May to compete in the VEX Robotics World Championship IQ Challenge. This world championship event featured nine total teams of students from Mountain Brook Junior High, Brookwood Forest and Crestline Elementary. These students competed in their respective competitions against the top 1% of robots and robotics teams from across the globe at their age level.

    Mountain Brook Junior High teams:

    • Elliott Gechijian, John Montgomery and Wyatt Pearce

    • Daniel Carter, Zach Hendrickson, Matthew Macaluso and Charlie Lightner

    • Jackson Eatmon, Patrick Rais-Bahrami, Wills Allen and William Shea

    • Macklin Carle, Carl Moellinger and Liam Stowe

    • Bryson Dobbins and Jack Pierce

    Carter, Hendrickson, Macaluso and Lightner made the division finals and finished in 4th place!

    Brookwood Forest teams:

    • Evalee McClellan, Vera Johnson and Willa Stockman (Online Poster Challenger World Winner and new personal best scores set for the season)

    • Webber Moss and Eli Ebert (1st year team – placed 8th in their Division finals)

    • William Baugh, Ryan Plyler and Sam Ebert  (3rd in their Division with a high score of  251 – in the top 25 of all scores in the finals)

    Crestline team:

    • Gray Marshall, Hayes Dyer-Smith, John Clark Newman (Finished 7th in their division and won the Judges Award for their division)

    At the elementary level, there were over 750 teams competing overall and there were 75 teams in each division. The top 20 teams qualified for the Division finals.
