November 9, 2021 -- Monday afternoon, several individuals and groups were presented to the Mountain Brook Board of Education for their recent accomplishments, achievements, and contributions to the Mountain Brook school system.

Jaye Loggins

Jaye Loggins was recently appointed Chief of Police for the City of Mountain Brook replacing Ted Cook. Loggins previously served as Deputy Chief and has been with MBPD since 1996. He was presented to the Board and is eager to continue furthering the relationship Mountain Brook Schools has with the MBPD.

Caroline Russell

Caroline, a 7th grader, was recognized for her selection as the 2021 Outstanding Gifted Student Award winner for the Alabama Association of Gifted Children (AAGC). Russell received this award because of her service to gifted students last year (2020-21) at Cherokee Bend Elementary. After learning that the school’s gifted students would not have a Special Olympics, she organized one and help plan the entire event.

Junior High Cross Country Teams

In October, both MBJH boys and girls cross country teams won the Metro Championship. Head Coach, Randy Stephens, and MBJH Principal, Donald Clayton, presented the two teams to the Board.

Varsity Volleyball

The MBHS Volleyball was recognized for winning another state championship. The team finished the 2021 season with a 43-12 record. The championship is the sixth in program history and also the sixth title in the last eight years.
