The Spartans reached the state championship game for the first time since 1996.

Monday, December 5, 2022 โ The Mountain Brook High School football teamโs historic season came to a close on Friday night as the Spartans (12-3) fell to Saraland (14-1) by a score of 38-17. This was the Spartans' first appearance in the state championship appearance since 1996 and fourth appearance in the last game of the season in program history.
โThe big thing we challenged our players to all year was to play the game with joy and with love for the game and for one another,โ Mountain Brook head coach Chris Yeager told Village Living. โItโs been heartwarming. Itโs been an incredible year.โ
The Spartans can hold their heads high after a season that saw many milestones including a 7-1 record when playing away from home. The senior class experienced a 36-7 record over their three years and the 566 points scored as a team set a program record (per AHSFHS).
โIโd like to encourage Coach Yeager, his staff, and our players on a tremendous effort this season,โ Mountain Brook Schools Superintendent Dr. Dicky Barlow said. โThey have represented themselves, their families, our school system, and their program with the highest level of integrity. This has been a remarkable run and weโre very pleased with who they are as a group of young men in our community.โ
