MBHS Football Season Concludes

  • The Spartans reached the state championship game for the first time since 1996.

  • Monday, December 5, 2022 โ€“ The Mountain Brook High School football teamโ€™s historic season came to a close on Friday night as the Spartans (12-3) fell to Saraland (14-1) by a score of 38-17. This was the Spartans' first appearance in the state championship appearance since 1996 and fourth appearance in the last game of the season in program history.

โ€œThe big thing we challenged our players to all year was to play the game with joy and with love for the game and for one another,โ€ Mountain Brook head coach Chris Yeager told Village Living. โ€œItโ€™s been heartwarming. Itโ€™s been an incredible year.โ€

The Spartans can hold their heads high after a season that saw many milestones including a 7-1 record when playing away from home. The senior class experienced a 36-7 record over their three years and the 566 points scored as a team set a program record (per AHSFHS).

โ€œIโ€™d like to encourage Coach Yeager, his staff, and our players on a tremendous effort this season,โ€ Mountain Brook Schools Superintendent Dr. Dicky Barlow said. โ€œThey have represented themselves, their families, our school system, and their program with the highest level of integrity. This has been a remarkable run and weโ€™re very pleased with who they are as a group of young men in our community.โ€
