Friday, May 20, 2022 – Three hundred twenty-three students walked across the stage at Mountain Brook High School’s graduation ceremony on Thursday night at the Pete Hanna Center on the campus of Samford University. These students represent the school’s 55th graduating class.
The Mountain Brook Symphonic Winds performed the national anthem before Julianne Abenoja, Cory Fan and Jane Grey Battle addressed their fellow students.
Carrie Busby and Jeremy Crigger shared the responsibility of calling out student names while each graduate walked across the stage to shake hands with the school’s principal, Philip Holley. Towards the end of the ceremony, Amy Beth Hudson led students in the alma mater before 323 caps soared through the air celebrating the end of the student’s high school careers.
Of the 305 college-bound graduates, 145 reported receiving a scholarship from their college/university or an outside organization.
“This is an extraordinary group and they have endured a tremendous amount during their high school years,” Holley said. “From the pandemic to construction, they did not have a ‘normal experience.’ But I am proud of how they handled their circumstances and I’m confident they are all adequately prepared for whatever they may face in the future.”
