AHSAA 6A Boys Basketball Championship Game Information

  • The Spartans will face Buckhorn on Saturday at 2:15 p.m. in Legacy Arena at the BJCC in downtown Birmingham in the 6A boys basketball state championship game.


  • Thursday, March 2, 2023 -- The Mountain Brook varsity boys basketball team (27-7) is back in familiar territory: the state championship game. The Spartans earned their spot by holding off Paul Bryant High School in the state semi-finals. Head coach Tyler Davis and his team now turn their attention towards Saturday when the Spartans will face Buckhorn (26-7) for the 6A state title at 2:15 p.m. inside Legacy Arena.

     

    Nuggets you need to know:

    - The Spartans are seeking their 7th state championship in program history (2013, 2014, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2021)

    - This is the program's 9th state championship appearance since 2013 (additional appearances include 2015 and 2020)

    - This is Davis' 2nd state championship appearance in 3 years as the Mountain Brook head coach after he replaced Bucky McMillan in 2021

    - This is the second meeting between Mountain Brook and Buckhorn this season (Dec. 28, 2022, Buckhorn def. MB, 60-52)

    Tickets can be purchased through Ticketmaster or on-site at Legacy Arena. 

     

    Venue information:

    Legacy Arena has instituted a clear bag policy. ALL BAGS entering the venue must be smaller than 12” x 12” x 6” and be clear and contents visible to security.   Any bag, purse, or briefcase that is larger than 12″ x 12″ x 6″ will not be allowed into the Legacy Arena.
