Dr. Heather Mays Named Assistant Principal at MBE

Dr. Heather Mays joins Mountain Brook Elementary as the new Assistant Principal.

Wednesday, June 8, 2022 – The Mountain Brook Board of Education recently approved the hiring of Dr. Heather Mays to become the new Assistant Principal at Mountain Brook Elementary.
“We’re so excited to welcome Heather to Mountain Brook Elementary,” MBE Principal, Ashley McCombs said. “She brings with her a common passion for keeping students at the center of all decision-making.
Dr. Mays said she’s thrilled about the opportunity to join the Mountain Brook Elementary family.
“Throughout the process of interviewing with MBE, it became evident that the school is a hallmark of excellence and the team that Mrs. McCombs has assembled works beautifully together to provide a learning environment that supports the purpose of Mountian Brook Schools,” Mays said.
Mays is an innovative educator with over 20 years of experience, fifteen of which have been in an administrative position. Previous stops include time spent at Trussville City Schools, Briarwood Christian School, Shelby County Schools as well as time as an adjunct professor at both Alabama and Montevallo.
Mays has her Doctorate and Educational Specialist degree in Educational Leadership from Samford University. She obtained her Master of Library and Information Science as well as her bachelor’s degree in Economics from Alabama.
“In addition to joining such a high-functioning team, I am most excited about meeting and serving the people that I will be working with daily,” Mays said. “Relationships with students, teachers, and families are at the core of what I value most as an educator.”
