• The Mountain Brook High School boys basketball team won the Class 6A Northeast Regional on Tuesday, Feb. 23. 


    Feb. 26, 2021 — The Mountain Brook High School boys basketball team punched its ticket to the 99th AHSAA State Basketball Championships with a 63-47 victory over Huffman on Tuesday, Feb. 23, in the Class 6A Northeast Regional Final. The Spartans will face Eufaula in the state semifinals on Monday, March 1. Tipoff is set for 4:30 p.m. at UAB’s Bartow Arena. 

    This is Mountain Brook’s fifth straight final four appearance and eighth in the last nine years. The Spartans won state championships in 2013, 2014, 2017, 2018, and 2019. Under the direction of first-year head coach Tyler Davis, the team carries a 17-game win streak and 28-6 overall record into the state semifinals. 

    Mountain Brook defeated Homewood to win the Area 9 title on Feb. 13 before earning state tournament wins over Jackson-Olin, Oxford, and Huffman en route to the final four. If the Spartans defeat Eufaula, they will play either Scottsboro or Spanish Fort on Wednesday, March 3, at 11:30 a.m. in the 6A state championship game at Bartow Arena.
