Wednesday, November 17, 2021 -- The Mountain Brook High School wrestling team made history by holding the first-ever outdoor wrestling match in the state of Alabama on Tuesday evening in Spartan Stadium. MBHS defeated Wetumpka, 61-25, and St. Clair, 70-9.

The event was put on thanks to head coach Justin Ransom, assistants Andrew Scofield, Bo Bailey, Joe Webb, Will Davis, and all the Spartan wrestlers. The idea came about a few years ago but with the addition of the new video board in the stadium, the dream became reality.

The Spartans’ gold mat was rolled out on the turf near the school side of the track right under the video board. The mat was taped, cleaned and just like any other match, the Spartans went to work and picked up two victories.
