September Board Meeting Recognitions

MBS students were presented to the Board for their recent accomplishments and two new MBS teachers discussed the 2021 New Teacher Orientation.

September 14, 2021 -- The Mountain Brook Board of Education met for its monthly meeting on Monday, August 13 and several MBS students were recognized for their recent achievements.
“We are very excited to bring back this portion of our monthly meetings,” Superintendent Dr. Dicky Barlow said Monday. “Our students are at the forefront of everything we do and everyone here today is a tremendous representation of the Mountain Brook school system.”
Communications/PR Specialist William Galloway presented the 2021-22 PTO Council to the Board as well as Becky Holt (President) and Bevelle Worthen (President-elect) as representatives of All In Mountain Brook.
High School Principal Philip Holley then introduced multiple MBHS students for their recent achievements:
- Jane Grey Battle | Named a member of the 2021-22 USA Debate Team
- Anna Bella Foster | Miss Jefferson County’s Outstanding Teen
- Julianne Abenoja | Distinguished Young Woman of Jefferson County 2022
- Bickley Bowron, Amy Beth Hudson and Vaughn Frost | Perfect ACT scores
In a report to the Board, Holly Martin, MBS Professional Development Specialist, introduced two MBS new teachers. Sara Martin (MBJH) and Becca Rogers (Brookwood Forest Elementary) spoke to board members about this year’s New Teacher Orientation that was held over the summer. Martin and Rogers expressed their appreciation for the Board’s support of the event and how they each benefited and grew as teaching professionals from the quality training and instruction they received.
