Friday, May 19, 2023 – Members of Mountain Brook High School’s 56th graduating class walked across the stage inside the Pete Hanna Center on the campus of Samford University on Thursday evening. A total of 325 graduates received their diploma and are on their way to the next chapter of their lives.
After the student’s processional to ‘Pomp and Circumstance,’ the Mountain Brook Symphonic Winds performed the national anthem. Moria Dowling, Vaughn Frost and Sophia Li addressed their fellow classmates as part of a series of speeches. Then, the MBHS Chamber Choir performed “Underneath the Stars” by Kate Rusby and Jim Clements before the school’s administrators distributed the diplomas. Maddie Hazelrig led the graduates in the alma mater to conclude the ceremony.
“This is a special group of seniors who have contributed a great amount to our school community,” MBHS Principal Philip Holley said. “I will remember them, not because they are my last group of seniors, but because of who they are and what they accomplished in the classroom, in their extracurricular activities and by leaving an impact on the community.”
