MBS Recognized as a National Board Accomplished District
-
Thursday, June 10, 2021 -- Mountain Brook Schools was recognized as a National Board Accomplished District for the 2020-21 school year. The recognition comes from the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards acknowledging that more than 20 percent of teachers in the MBS district are Board-certified.
This year, MBS is one of only four school systems in the state of Alabama with more than 20-percent of its teachers Board-certified.
According to the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards website, National Board certification was designed to develop, retain, and recognize accomplished teachers and to generate ongoing improvement in schools nationwide. It is the most respected professional certification available in K-12 education.
“This is a reflection of the excellence of the teachers in our schools,” MBS Director of Curriculum and Instruction, Dr. Missy Brooks said.
Teachers apply for the board-certification process through the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards. The thorough process requires candidates to submit video and work samples of his/her teaching. The submissions are examined and require approval for final certification.
Mountain Brook Schools thanks the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards for their recognition this year and in years past. MBS was also recognized in 2019.
