Jeans on Fridays to Help our Seniors
PCR-I Donates to PC Cafe and Resource Center
The faculty and staff at PCR-I continued their tradition of donating money from "Blue Jeans Fridays" to help support our Putnam County Cafe and Resource Center. Each year, our staff are given the opportunity to donate money in exchange for the ability to wear blue jeans and Putnam gear on Fridays and early out days. This year our staff raised $2980. Each person contributing a little makes a big impact. Dr. Halley presented Mary Clapham, director of the PC Cafe and Resource Center, with the check. These funds help support our senior citizens here in Putnam County who helped provide the foundation for what we have in this community.
The PC Cafe provides thousands of nutritious meals each year to residents of Putnam County through its Meals on Wheels program. Last school-year our Building Trades program constructed a garage to house both vehicles for the Meals on Wheels program.
During Winterfest, the PC Cafe welcomes the community in for dinner and conversation, while enjoying the festival. This year, Winterfest will be held on December 7th. The contributions from the hot meal provided that evening are just one of the PC Cafe and Resource Center's many fundraisers.
The PC Cafe and Resource Center is sustained and successful because of the many contributions, donations, and involvement by the community. Together, everyone doing a little can accomplish big things to keep our community thriving.
