Children Are Born To Learn: Parents As Teachers
Parents as Teachers is a free program available to all families living in the Putnam County R-I School District. Did you know that 90% of brain development happens in the first 5 years of life? Parents as Teachers serve children birth-5 years old during these critical years that significantly influence a child's lifelong capacity to learn.
Parents as Teachers believe the parent is the first and most important teacher in a child's life. Our educators will share information and strategies to support the needs in maintaining a healthy family.
The Parents as Teacher program offers the following for free:
1. Regular visits with a Parent Educator (PE)
2. Fun and educational activities
3. Annual developmental screenings
4. Parent topics about the child's areas of development with discussion on parent support.
Meet our Putnam County Parent Educators, Debbie Moss and Barb Mitchell. Feel free to contact them if you are interested in partnering with Parents as Teachers. Their phone number is 660-947-2481, extension 1.
