Holiday Fun

Mrs. Whitworth's Third Grade took some time to enjoy the holiday season by learning about old traditions and making fun holiday memories.  The children spent one morning having a Read-a-Thon.  Many of them read holiday stories.  During the Read-a-Thon, Mrs. Whitworth shared some of her favorite holiday stories such as An Orange for Frankie by Patricia Polacco. An old Christmas tradition that the children learned about was stringing popcorn to decorate the Christmas tree.  The children watched a video and then took turns stringing popcorn.

One day the whole 3rd grade enjoyed a Wholibration!  The three classes were mixed together and took turns rotating to the three classrooms.  Each teacher had fun with the children by playing bingo, playing Pictionary, drawing a Christmas picture on a paper plate that was on top of their heads, and playing Minute to Win It games.  The Grinch even paid a visit and handed each child a "Grinch-licked" candy cane.  The children drank hot chocolate while the teachers read, How the Grinch Stole Christmas.  The day was concluded with watching the movie, "How the Grinch Stole Christmas", and eating popcorn.

There was an elf, Sprinkles, who visited the room a few days watching over the children.  On the last day before break, Sprinkles decided to get into mischief and destroy the room!  Mrs. Whitworth was NOT impressed. However, the kids thought it was funny!  The last day of school before break included gifts, ice cream floats, and playing together.
