What would it have meant for 4J students who live within this area?
- At the elementary school level, students currently enrolled could have:
- Attended the newly assigned neighborhood school, Parker Elementary, with bus transportation provided.
- Continued attending their current neighborhood school, Adams Elementary, with no bus transportation provided.
- Continued attending any other school the student had transferred to through the school choice process. Parents would continue to provide transportation.
- Students new to the area or starting school would have been assigned to the new neighborhood school. Students who wished to attend a different school would need to apply for a transfer through the school choice process.
- There would have been no change in neighborhood middle or high schools for students in the area. Students would continue to be assigned to Spencer Butte Middle School and South Eugene High School. Students who wished to attend a different school would need to apply for a transfer through the school choice process.
How many students would have been affected by this change?
Currently, there are 48 elementary school students in the proposed area. Of those, 13 attend Adams Elementary, 7 attend Parker Elementary, and 28 attend other 4J schools.
What were the opportunities for community input?
- Families with elementary school students within the area were sent a letter with a feedback postcard.
- Other stakeholders provided public input via an online survey, comment cards, or at five meetings held in December and early January.
