Superintendent's Message - June 2, 2022

  • John Kopicki
    Greetings!

We are just days away from the end of the 2021-2022 school year. I want to thank you for such a memorable first year in Cabarrus County Schools. We have successfully completed a full year of in-person learning while navigating an ongoing pandemic, celebrated student and staff achievements in the classroom, on the athletic field, and in world competitions, and have banded together to support our colleagues, students, and neighbors in times of need.

I want to thank everyone who participated in our Community Connections strategic plan sessions. I appreciate your taking the time to attend and share your input. For those of you who haven’t attended a session yet, you have one more chance – our final session is scheduled for
6 p.m. Thursday, June 2nd at Northwest Cabarrus High School.

These sessions have been extremely beneficial to our strategic planning process as we begin our quest to become one of the best school systems in the nation. They also have highlighted the incredible strengths of our school system, among them our dedicated teachers and staff, our talented students, our outstanding learning options such as Program Choice and our Career & Technical Education Pathways. We also are fortunate to have long-standing community partnerships, which support our schools, students, and staff in a myriad of ways.

As I stated in my very first message to you, “It is my honor and privilege to serve Cabarrus County Schools’ students, families, and staff.” It continues to be an honor and privilege. You have welcomed me and made Cabarrus County and CCS feel like home. And for that, I say thank you. I also want to express my thanks and gratitude to our Board of Education; it is pleasure to work with a group of individuals who are committed to student success.

Before the final bell rings on June 9th, our high school students will complete their end-of-year exams beginning June 3rd. As a reminder, high schools will dismiss early on exam days. Our high schools also are preparing for graduation ceremonies scheduled for June 9th – 11th. For all the details about graduation ceremonies – dates, times, live stream details, please visit our Class of 2022 Graduation website.

Our summer will be busy as we prepare for the 2022-2023 academic year, and for the opening of two new schools – Roberta Road Middle School and Cabarrus Health Sciences Institute.

It’s been a great year. Thank you for entrusting us with your children. Thank you for allowing us the opportunity to prepare and inspire them to change the world. Thank you for all that you’ve done this year to support our students and to ensure their safety and success. I look forward to continuing the work we’ve started together.

    Enjoy your summer.

    Stay well,

    John
