    Congratulations to our Teacher of the Year Finalists:

    • D'Aulan McCord – Central Cabarrus High School
    • Steven Stevens – Hickory Ridge Middle School
    • Emily Wagoner – R. Brown McAllister Elementary School
     
    You can learn more about these outstanding educators in an upcoming feature titled An Apple a Day, which will be shared on our district website and on our social media sites. We will announce the Teacher of the Year at a celebration in April.
     
    Our Human Resources Department will host a Teacher Fair on April 23rd as it looks to hire additional outstanding teachers to join our school system. To register for the fair, visit www.cabarrus.k12.nc.us/TeachCabCo.
     
    Cabarrus County Schools is home to two state champion wrestlers. Congratulations to:
    • Marcus Jackson – Central Cabarrus High School – Individual State 3A title winner
    • Chase Crayton – Mount Pleasant High School – Individual State 2A title winner
     
    Looking ahead to March, we will celebrate Youth Art Month and Music in Our Schools Month. These month-long celebrations give us an opportunity to shine a spotlight on the amazing work that our fine arts students and teachers are doing in our schools. Throughout the month, student artwork will be on display at Union Street Square (next to the Creamery). Our district will wrap-up these observances at our annual Fine Arts Showcase on April 3rd, which will feature CCS students’ talents in the performing and fine arts.
     
    In closing, here are a few important dates for your calendars:  
    • March 3rd – Staff Development Day – No school for students
    • March 27th – Staff Development Day – No school for students
