Cabarrus County Schools continues to address the COVID-19 pandemic and its impact on our district. No doubt these are challenging times for our county, state, country and world. CCS is committed to doing all that we can to keep our students and staff healthy and safe.

Our work with community partners at Cabarrus Health Alliance, as well as city and county officials, continues. They’re all excellent partners, and we are grateful for their guidance and support during this unprecedented time.

We know that for many of our students the meals they receive at school each day are the only or the most nutritious ones they will receive, and we are pleased that our School Nutrition Program is providing meals to children ages 1-18 during our closure. The meals are available at 40 sites throughout our community. A list of pick-up sites is available here.

We also are offering students opportunities to supplement their learning while they are at home. You can access this information from the Extended Home Learning icon on our district website. These resources, which also are available in paper copies at our schools, are designed to help students keep their skills sharp.

In addition to the measures we have put in place for our students, we also are providing opportunities for our employees to continue working. We are doing that in a number of ways – offering staggered schedules, alternative work locations to comply with social distancing guidelines, working from home (where applicable) and teleconferencing/virtual meetings. Employees should continue to follow the reporting guidance provided by the Finance Department.

I want to take a moment to thank everyone for their patience and cooperation. As you know, this situation is changing rapidly. But I want you to know that we are doing all that we can to make informed, thoughtful decisions that are in the best interests of our students, staff and community. I also want to encourage you to remain calm and follow the recommendations of health professionals for reducing the risk of spreading the coronavirus.

You can continue to find updates regarding our district operations on our website at www.cabarrus.k12.nc.us. You also can stay connected with us on our social media sites and our district mobile app.

    Chris
