• A Message from Dr. Chris Lowder, Superintendent 08/21/2019

Superintendent Lowder Welcome to the 2019-2020 school year!

We are excited about the new year and can’t wait to welcome students on the traditional school year calendar on August 26th. Our Back-to-School website is a great resource for information about the new school year.

Some of our students have been back in school for a while now. Check out our district social media sites to see how students who attend Wolf Meadow Elementary and those enrolled at Cabarrus-Kannapolis Early College High School and Cabarrus Early College of Technology started the new year.

As we begin a new school year, I want to remind you about the importance of school attendance. Research shows that attendance is the best predictor of a student’s success in school, so please do all that you can to minimize student absences this school year.

Students also need to be well-cared for in order to succeed in school. In Cabarrus County Schools, we serve and care for the needs of the whole child. So, in addition to teaching and learning and raising the bar on expectations, we also focus on our students’ physical, mental and social health.

This school year, we also are continuing our focus on safety. Last spring, we began a limited implementation of random safety checks using metal detectors at two middle schools and two high schools. This year, we will expand that implementation to include all of our middle and high school campuses. You will receive additional information about our district’s safety efforts during Open House events at your school. You can also find the information on our safety website.

Thank you for entrusting us with your children and for choosing Cabarrus County Schools. We are glad you’re here and can’t wait to get started.

Here’s to a great new school year!

    Chris
