Superintendent's Message - April 5, 2023

  • John Kopicki
    Greetings,

I hope this message finds you well as our fourth quarter gets underway. Our traditional calendar Spring Break will begin on Friday, April 7th.  To those going out of town, I wish you safe travels and look forward to your return on Monday, April 17h.

This is a busy time of year for our district and several exciting events are coming up this month:

    • The district will name its 2023 Teacher of the Year at a Celebration of Excellence on April 20th. To view the videos of our six finalists, please visit our district’s YouTube page.
    • The Cabarrus County Special Olympics will host their annual Spring Games on April 19th and 20th at the Cabarrus Arena and Events Center.
    • I will begin hosting our Spring 2023 Community Engagement meetings on Tuesday, April 18th at Central Cabarrus High, Tuesday, April 25th at Concord High, and on Thursday, April 27th at Cox Mill High . These meetings will continue into May as I visit all eight of our traditional district high schools. View the complete schedule here.  All meetings will begin at 6:00 P.M. in the high school media center.  Join me as I present our district’s strategic plan, Destination 2025, and share our strategic priorities for the coming years.

Kindergarten registration is under way. Registering your child during our spring registration helps create a smooth transition into kindergarten in the fall. Any child who is five years old on or before August 31, 2023, is eligible to register for kindergarten. Visit our district website at www.cabarrus.k12.nc.us and select the Enrollment icon in the Find it Fast section for additional information. Additionally, applications for Kindergarten Program Choice will be accepted through April 30th. You can find information about Kindergarten Program Choice by selecting the Program Choice icon in the Find it Fast section of our district website.

Finally, congratulations to the Class of 2023. When we return from Spring Break, you will begin the final countdown towards graduation and the culmination of years of hard work to get where you are today.  Please visit our district graduation page where you will find all the important information that you and your family need to make this a successful experience.

Again, safe travels, and I look forwards to finishing our year strong upon your return.

    Stay Well,
    John
