The school year is in full swing with students and staff at work inside and outside the classroom.

Recently, students planning the annual King of the Court volleyball event and fundraiser were recognized by Atrium Health – Cabarrus as a recipient of the Breast Care Champion of the Year award. And students and staff at Patriots STEM Elementary School along with the Hometown Heroes organization welcomed a student back to school with a spirited celebration.

Hickory Ridge High School dedicated the school’s solar panels, which were received through a grant from Duke Energy and NCGreenPower.  Hickory Ridge was one of seven high schools across the state to receive a free system worth approximately $40,000.

Two annual events that always attract big crowds are coming up. First up is the Program Choice Fair, which is scheduled for Tuesday, Oct. 8th from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Jay M. Robinson High School. This is a great opportunity to learn about all of our Program Choice options. Applications for Program Choice open on Oct. 8th and close at midnight on Dec. 19th.

The other event is our annual College Fair, which is scheduled for Wednesday, Oct. 9th from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Cabarrus Arena & Events Center. Representatives from more than 90 colleges and universities are scheduled to attend. High school juniors and seniors who are planning to attend college are encouraged to attend.
