Superintendent's Message - October 30, 2020

  • A Message from Dr. Chris Lowder, Superintendent 10/30/2020
    Superintendent Lowder

I want to begin by thanking everyone for a great return to in-person learning. It is wonderful to have students back in school, and we are continuing to keep health and safety top-of-mind.

In addition to our daily safety protocols of temperature checks, face coverings, social distancing, frequent hand washing and enhanced cleaning, we also are working closely with our partners at Cabarrus Health Alliance for reporting any cases of COVID-19 among our students and staff.  Each week, the district will share a report of positive cases for students and staff. You can find the report at https://www.cabarrus.k12.nc.us/covid19reporting. Also remember that you can find information about our protocols and plans in our  ONE Strong Start Guide for Families.

In-person learning was interrupted this week by the threat of inclement weather in the aftermath of Hurricane Zeta. Weather forecasts predicted the possibility of high winds, which create safety concerns for operating school buses. Whenever there is a threat that inclement weather could cause hazardous road and driving conditions, we also consider the safety of our student drivers and staff. Although we were not able to have students in school, we were able to continue with teaching and learning remotely. You can refer to our Inclement Weather FAQ to learn more about our procedures and decision-making.

    Chris
