Dr. John Kopicki

 

Dr. Kopicki was sworn in as Superintendent of Cabarrus County Schools on August 16th, 2021. He leads the 8th largest district in North Carolina, comprised of 33,000 students and 4,000 employees.

Dr. Kopicki has enjoyed a long and successful career in public education that spans more than 28 years in Pennsylvania. Most recently, he served as superintendent of Central Bucks School (CBSD) District in Doylestown, Pa., where he successfully developed and implemented a five-year vision for the school district highlighting areas of technology, finance, facilities and operations, teaching and learning, and community connections.

Prior to joining CBSD, Dr. Kopicki served as superintendent of the Altoona Area School District, as well as the Forest City Regional School District. In addition, he previously served as a principal and assistant principal for Scranton School District and an assistant principal for Western Wayne School District. Dr. Kopicki began his career in 1992 as a high school social studies teacher in Scranton School District. He also has worked as an adjunct professor at Keystone College.

He earned a bachelor’s degree in secondary education and a master’s degree in school leadership from Marywood University. He earned a doctoral degree in educational administration from Temple University. Dr. Kopicki currently is a member of the American Association of Supervisors and Administrators and the American Association of School Administrators.
