• A Message from Dr. Chris Lowder, Superintendent 08/12/2019

    Superintendent Lowder

Cabarrus County Schools recently received a $142,000 Farm to School grant from the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Food and Nutrition Service. Our district is the only North Carolina entity to receive a grant. The grant will be used to create a K-12 gardening curriculum for our 10 STEM schools. The curriculum will cover the gardening process from planting to production, including the technology used in the process.

For the 5th consecutive year, CCS has partnered with USA Football to provide student-athletes and coaching staffs at our seven high schools access to cutting-edge tackling techniques and safety tactics. USA Football’s Advanced Tackling System (ATS) clinic builds on the foundation of basic tackling skills.

Free summer meals will continue to be available to children age 18 and younger in our community through August 16th. Visit www.cabarrus.k12.nc.us/freesummermeals for a list of sites. No ID or reservations are required.

We are just a couple of weeks away from the start of the 2019-2020 school year for most of our students who head back to school on Aug. 26th. Students at Cabarrus-Kannapolis Early College and Cabarrus Early College of Technology headed back to class on Aug. 8th. Be sure to visit our Back-to-School website for all the information you need to get ready for the new school year.

    Sincerely,
    Chris
