Superintendent's Message - July 24, 2020

  • A Message from Dr. Chris Lowder, Superintendent 07/24/2020

    Superintendent Lowder

The Cabarrus County Board of Education held a Called Meeting on July 23, 2020, and voted to begin the 2020-2021 school year utilizing full remote learning (Plan C) for all students. The district will continue to monitor health conditions to determine when a safe transition to a combination of in-person and remote learning can be made.

You can view the academic calendars for the 2020-2021 school year here. The calendars reflect each of the three learning plans:
    • Remote learning exclusively
    • Combination of in-person and remote learning
    • In-person learning exclusively (if conditions allow us to return to school in that way)

As a reminder, the district previously announced Wolf Meadow Elementary School will follow the traditional CCS academic calendar for the 2020-2021 year.

Throughout our planning for the new school year, our partners at Cabarrus Health Alliance have worked with us and offered their professional guidance and recommendations. Our planning teams also have followed the guidance and requirements from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services (NCDHHS), which has published its guidelines for a safe return to school in a public health toolkit that is available in English and Spanish.

We are looking forward to the start of the new school year and will continue to keep you updated about our plans. Thank you for your continued support and cooperation.

    Sincerely,

    Chris
    Chris Lowder, Ed.D.
