A Message from Dr. Chris Lowder, Superintendent 08/20/2020We have almost completed our first week of school, and students, teachers and parents are working hard to establish routines as we all navigate remote learning. I have enjoyed seeing your first day of school photos in your home learning spaces.A new school year always brings lots of information and questions, and this year brings even more as we begin the year with remote learning. Our district has developed a guide for families titled ONE Strong Start, which provides information about our plans for utilizing the remote learning plan (Plan C). The guide is available in English and in Spanish. The start of the new school year is not without its challenges. Our administrators and staff are working to address issues as they arise, and we will continue to do so. To accommodate the variety of school day schedules, our School Nutrition department has added times for meal pick-ups. You can find the new schedule on the School Nutrition site.We also are working to improve Internet connectivity for families who do not have access. Our Technology department is working to equip some of our school buses with Wi-Fi hotspots and place those buses throughout our community. CCS buses supplied with a Wi-Fi hotspot will be deployed 6:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. weekdays at each location. CCS bus drivers will be on site to monitor. Students must be accompanied by a parent/guardian while at a Wi-Fi location site. Students also will be able to access Wi-Fi coverage in many of our school parking lots. The department also is collaborating with community partners to provide Wi-Fi access at their locations. You also can refer to an interactive map that shows locations.Thank you for choosing Cabarrus County Schools and for entrusting us with your children. We are committed to their academic growth, learning and enrichment.Sincerely,ChrisChris Lowder, Ed.D.Superintendent
