• John KopickiThe Cabarrus County Board of Education announced the selection and election of Dr. John Kopicki [pronounced Koe-pick-ee] as the next superintendent of Cabarrus County Schools at its Work Session on Monday, Aug. 2nd.
     
    Dr. Kopicki has enjoyed a long and successful career in public education that spans more than 28 years in Pennsylvania.  Most recently, he served as superintendent of Central Bucks School (CBSD) District in Doylestown, Pa., where he successfully developed and implemented a five-year vision for the school district highlighting areas of technology, finance, facilities and operations, teaching and learning, and community connections.
     
    Prior to joining CBSD, Dr. Kopicki served as superintendent of the Altoona Area School District, as well as the Forest City Regional School District. In addition, he previously served as a principal and assistant principal for Scranton School District and an assistant principal for Western Wayne School District. Dr. Kopicki began his career in 1992 as a high school social studies teacher in Scranton School District. He also has worked as an adjunct professor at Keystone College.
     
    He earned a bachelor’s degree in secondary education and a master’s degree in school leadership from Marywood University.  He earned a doctoral degree in educational administration from Temple University. Dr. Kopicki currently is a member of the American Association of Supervisors and Administrators and the American Association of School Administrators.
     
    During the search process, the board carefully reviewed applications from a diverse field of 14 excellent candidates. Although many qualified candidates applied, the board felt that Dr. Kopicki’s experience, leadership, and dedication to students and staff would best serve CCS students, employees, and the community for years to come. The board is confident Dr. Kopicki will lead the school system to even higher achievement.
     
    Dr. Kopicki will take office on Monday, August 16, 2021.
