Rearranging current or bringing in new worksite tools/equipment to fit a job to a person.
Why improve ergonomics in the work place?
- Helps reduce muscle fatigue and strain
- Helps improve focus and productivity
- Helps improve health and wellness
Ergonomic Assessments
4J administered ergonomic assessments are intended to be cost free or inexpensive, in assisting the adjustments of work stations to help reduce fatigue and muscle strain from redundant motion and static body positioning. Cost free adjustments can be identifying ways to adjust current tools/equipment to be repositioned in a more ergonomic manner to repurposing existing/equipment tools that may already be available in the district, but are not being used.
Recommendations will also be made for new ergonomic tools/equipment to be purchased when these tools/equipment are not available. If site/department has funds for any of the recommended items, Human Resources can help coordinate the purchase through our local ergonomic vendor, WorkSite Solutions.
If site/department does not have funds available to purchase any or all of the Recommended items, The Standard’s Stay-at-Work Form can be completed if there is a medical condition that may necessitate the need for work site modification or tools. The Standard’s primary services are for employees with a permanent disability. However, there is an injury prevention component that might allow the use of new ergonomic items, at no cost to the district, if approved.
