Emily Westlake, a native of Kingsport, Tennessee, is graduate of Furman University with a B.A. in Elementary Education. She taught 4th grade for five years in South Carolina and then stayed home for nine years raising three children! After moving to Birmingham, she taught two years at the Montclair School, and later coordinated reading programs for four years at Better Basics.

Following her love for math, she attended UAB for recertifcation hours in Secondary Math. Academic Skills is the perfect place for her to teach math and encourage students to reach their potential in academics, as well as life in general! This will be her 21st year at MBHS.

Emily continues to teach swimming lessons as she has done for the past 28 summers. She also teaches adult Sunday School.

Emily and her husband enjoy their three adult children, two busy dogs,and traveling.
