Karen Svetlay has been the College Advisor at Mountain Brook High School since 2005 and works with students whose last names begin with the letters A-K.  She provides guidance to students and parents concerning preparation for college, college decisions and the admission process. 

 

Mrs. Svetlay currently serves on the Counselor Advisory Boards at Samford University and the University of Alabama and is part of planning committee for Birmingham's National College Fair in the fall.  She has previously served on the board of the Southern Association for College Admission Counseling. 

 

She is a graduate of Mountain Brook High School and Davidson College.  She holds a Master of Public and Private Management degree from Birmingham-Southern College where she worked as Assistant Director of Admission for four years.
