PROFESSIONAL

Shane Martin was born and raised in metro Atlanta, Ga.  Attended Samford University and received a Bachelor of Arts degree in American History.  He continued his higher education at UAB, receiving a Masters of Education.

Previous employment includes teaching in the IB program at Hoover High School for 12 years until being given the blessing of an opportunity to teach here at Mountain Brook.  "Chief" has been here since 2011.  He teaches Early American History at the Advanced level.

Shane is also serving as one of the coaches for the cheerleading program here.  He is AACCA certified and has coached cheerleading since 1991 at the various levels including:  gyms, collegiate, and of course at the high school level.

PERSONAL

I am a family man who loves nothing more than being with my wife and boy.  I love football, hunting, church activities, gardening, and anything my son is into.

I am very proud of my heritage that includes (but of course is not limited to) Irish, Scottish, and Native American.  My Scottish roots are from the Lowlands, Native American roots are from the Cherokee nation and my Irish roots are mostly from the Ulster province.
