Ashley Van Beek is a graduate of Louisiana State University (Geaux Tigers!) with a B.S. in Civil Engineering and has earned her  M.Ed. in STEM Education from the American College of Education.  Mrs. Van Beek worked as a transportation engineer in Louisiana for several years before retiring from engineering to be home with her children. During that time, she developed a love for teaching as a private math and science tutor and teacher. Mrs. Van Beek's teaching passion is to help students realize that math and science are relevant to their lives and can be really fun!

Mrs. Van Beek is entering her sixth year teaching AP Physics at MBHS for the 2023-2024 school year and was awarded Mountain Brook High School Teacher of the Year for 2021-2022.  She is excited to teach the AP Physics classes and continue the excellence with which the MBHS AP Physics program is known. Mrs. Van Beek is also the sponsor for the MBHS Physics club.  As always, she is looking forward to a great year with the students! 

When not teaching, Mrs. Van Beek enjoys cooking and spending time with her family, which includes her husband of 29 years, her  4 children (23, 22, 20, & 16), and 2 dogs.
