Mrs. Ginny Bakken

Ginny Bakken, a native of Dothan, Alabama, received a B.S. in Psychology, while participating in the Department of Psychology Honors Program, and a B.A. in History from the University of Alabama. She also earned her M.Ed. from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. Prior to coming to Mountain Brook High School she taught five years at Mountain Brook Junior High, teaching primarily World History 9 but also Civics and Geography 7.  Mrs. Bakken also taught seven years of US History and one year of English at Montgomery Bell Academy in Nashville, Tennessee.  In addition, she had the privilege of serving as a guest lecturer at Michaelhouse School in South Africa in the summer of 2010. She is a member of Phi Beta Kappa, Cum Laude, and XXXI.

Mrs. Bakken is thrilled to be teaching AP Psychology and Advanced American History 10.  She is a co-sponsor of Interact and serves on the A+ College Ready Curriculum Development Committee for AP Psychology. In her free time she enjoys playing with her two children, reading, and traveling.  She also likes to work in her vegetable garden and eat good food!
