Brooke Dennis

Brooke Dennis has taught TV & Film for 15 years, but she began her career in high school broadcasting when she was on the news team at Pelham High School. She studied Broadcast Journalism at the University of Alabama, with a minor in English and Theatre. After graduation, she moved to Los Angeles, California where she worked as a Producer for a local affiliate and in other areas of television & film production.

She returned to Alabama in 2005 and began teaching television and film at Thompson High School in 2007. During her time at Thompson, Mrs. Dennis led the THS TV staff to numerous state awards at both the Alabama Scholastic Press Association State Convention and SkillsUSA State Convention. Students from her program have earned the title of Broadcast Journalist of the Year for the past eight years in a row! Students in SkillsUSA have competed nationally, most recently ranking fifth in the nation for Broadcast News Production.

Mrs. Dennis was named Thompson High School's Teacher of the Year for 2015-2016 and was honored as a Jacksonville State University Teacher Hall of Fame Nominee for the Alabaster City Schools District. She was the Alabama Scholastic Press Association's Advisor of the Year in 2019. She is certified in Adobe Photoshop, Premiere, and After Effects.

She came to Mountain Brook last fall ready to get students involved in all areas of the industry, including live event production and streaming events. Students in the Broadcast program gain experience in a variety of hands-on settings, producing works that require not only creativity, but also problem-solving skills. They work in all areas of production, including behind-the-scenes and on-camera for news programs, covering live sports events such as football, basketball and more, and producing other sports content and entertainment programming. Students will have the opportunity to work with the new Video Board - creating content, working cameras, and controlling the action on Friday nights!

Students in Media Arts will also work in depth with creative software such as Adobe Photoshop, Premiere, and After Effects.

Mrs. Dennis has been married to her husband, Mark, for 16 years. Her son, Conner, plays baseball for Oak Mountain High School, and her daughter, Elliot, is in show choir and aspires to be an actress one day.

She looks forward to continuing work with the talented students at Mountain Brook High School.
