    Intensified Hemispheric Interactions

ERA 5 will ask students to continue to understand that the collapse of empires creates a loss of central government.  Feudalism and the Middle Ages will be the largest focus of study during this unit.  Relationships between the Roman Catholic Church, Kings, Nobles and a disenfranchised peasant class will ultimately lead to greater global interaction.  Within this unit the Crusades and new trade routes such as the Silk Road will lead to a more connected world.  Students will be asked to explore positive and negative (Bubonic Plague) outcomes of this interaction.  This unit should also include a brief overview of Meso-American civilizations (Olmec, Maya, and Aztec).
