• All 4J schools closed Weds., Dec. 11, due to hazardous weather
• Only designated emergency staff report to work
• Athletic practices, activities and building rentals canceled
• Canceled school days will be made up later in the year
Friday’s heavy snowfall keeps sticking around. Although the city’s public works crews have been working around the clock to clear roads as well as they can, most streets are still icy, including neighborhood streets that city crews have not been able to reach. A little bit of melting has occurred, but refreezing overnight is likely to make the roads even slicker. Overall road conditions are not expected to improve much, if at all, by Wednesday morning.
The safety of our students and staff is our top concern. District staff have been monitoring road conditions closely. Because school buses cannot operate safely on all routes, school has been canceled for Wednesday. We will continue to monitor road conditions and weather forecasts closely in the hope that we can resume school soon.
All 4J schools will be closed. After-school activities, athletic practices, and outside use of school buildings also have been canceled.
Only designated emergency staff will report to work. All other staff will observe an unpaid furlough day.
So that students don’t lose instruction time, any school days canceled due to weather will be made up on days previously designated as budget reduction/unpaid furlough days, or at the end of the school year. The scheduling of the make-up days will be determined and announced soon.
