Mrs. Rebecca Beers

Hello, my name is Mrs. Rebecca Beers. I am your child’s new 1st grade teacher. I am very excited about the upcoming year and embarking on this new and exciting journey together.  I have a B.A. in Elementary Education, a B.S. in Psychology, and an M.A. in Reading K-12.  I also have certifications in IB PYP, GLEE, and SEL.  This is my twenty-sixth year as a teacher and my third year at Cox Mill.  I taught 15 years at Weddington Hills Elementary School in their IB PYP program. I have also taught in Lincoln County and upstate New York, where I am originally from. I also have two daughters, Madison and Caroline. Both girls were fortunate enough to have gone through the halls at Cox Mill elementary and Caroline now attends UNCG for Biological Engineering and Madi attends CMHS.  I love animals and have several of my own, including two dogs, Tater and Maggie, and various fish and turtles!  Of course, I also have a bearded dragon named Toothless! She is our class pet!  I love to read, swim, coach, go shopping, spend time with my family, and I rely on coffee and dark chocolate to keep up my energy!  I also had the privilege of coaching the Laurel Park Sharks swim team.  I also love cheering on my favorite football team, the Carolina Panthers!  I am truly looking forward to learning from and working with not only the children, but also each parent, as we work to create a nurturing environment for learning.
