2nd Grade Unit 5 – Data

Unit Overview

Content Focus –

Students work describing and representing ratios, using tables and graphs, and constructing and describing number sequences.  This work lays the early foundation for work that leads to algebraic thinking.

Looking Back…

In first grade, students worked constructing and describing repeating patterns using connecting cubes and body movements.

Looking Forward…

Later in 2nd grade and beyond, students will continue to build on their understanding of functions and change.  They will record and interpret increasingly complex sets of data, and develop rules and equations based on the information.
