The 4J school board is seeking community members interested in serving on the district’s Equity Committee. Applications are due Thursday, May 28.
The Equity Committee is appointed by the board to provide guidance, support, information and advice about issues of equity, diversity and inclusion in our schools. Building and strengthening student and community partnerships that boost student academic success are an important part of its work.
The volunteer advisory committee consists of 12 community members. In addition, two board members, the superintendent, and three staff members serve as non-voting members on the committee.
The committee has six open positions with terms that expire in 2016, 2017 or 2018. Committee members may apply for a second term.
Appointment process:
• Applications are due Thursday, May 28 at 5 p.m.
• Applicants should attend the school board meeting on Monday, June 1 at 8 p.m. and speak briefly about their interest in the position.
• The board will vote on appointments at its meeting on Wednesday, June 17.
Board meetings are held in the 4J Education Center Auditorium, 200 N. Monroe St., Eugene.
