New Howard Elementary School Taking Shape

New project website shows initial design concept

Public invited to share comments at open house

Thanks to voters’ resounding approval of the 4J school bond measure last spring, four of the district’s oldest, most inefficient school buildings will be replaced or renovated over the next few years.

The first project to to break ground, possibly as early as this spring, will be Howard Elementary School. The existing school near River Road was constructed in 1949.

Before the new school building can be built, it must be designed. The project architects, PiVOT Architecture and DOWA-IBI Group, have developed an initial design concept with input from school staff, students and neighborhood representatives.

Community members are invited to view the initial design concept on a project website launched by the architects, then share their comments with the design team at an open house at the school on February 4.
