MODA ID CARDS IN THE MAIL?

Moda Health is not sending out new ID cards to all OEBB members.  While the details of our plans have changed, our group and subscriber ID numbers remain the same.  Moda only issued ID cards to new members, and to existing members who:

  • added a line of coverage (they didn’t have dental before, but now they do, etc.)
  • changed networks (as in, they moved from the ODS Plus Network region to another state with a different provider network)
  • added/dropped dependents

Because the cards existing members already have are still absolutely valid, and because there are many options to access ID cards now (smartphone, internet, print a copy, etc.) there is not a need to reissue all new ID cards.

If you feel you need a new ID card, you are more than welcome to contact Moda Health customer service and ask for one – 866-923-0409.

DIGITAL MODA HEALTH ID CARD

Moda Health now provides you the convenience of a digital member ID card.  Why is a digital card better than your old-school plastic card?

  • One less thing to carry in your wallet.  By accessing your digital ID card, you don’t have to keep the plastic version in your wallet anymore.
  • Large family?  Instead of sharing a card, every family member can download your Moda Health ID card.
  • You can e-mail a copy of the card to your providers or your family members.
  • You can print copies to give to your providers.

To get started, visit the Moda Health website for OEBB members:  https://www.modahealth.com/oebb/members/

All members:  To access a PDF of your Moda Health ID card, log in to myModa.  Enter your user name and password in the myModa login box on the right side of the screen.

Once logged into myModa, you can access your digital card from the member shortcuts box on the myModa homepage, or the “resources” tab.  From either place, choose the View/download/print ID card link.

While in myModa you could opt to sign up for electronic EOBs.  Stop all that paper coming to your house by updating your EOB delivery preference. Once in myModa, click on your “account” tab and “change account settings”.   Electronic EOBs can be quite handy when you want to submit an electronic reimbursement request from your flexible spending account!

Smartphone users:  If you’re a smartphone user, you can download your ID card from the Moda Health mobile ID card app.  To search for the app, visit your app store and type “Moda Health eCard app” into your search.  To launch the app, enter your mobile PIN code and member ID (these can be found on the PDF version of your ID card in myModa, see above). Your Moda Health ID card will appear on your phone.  Using the Moda Health ID card app, you can e-mail or fax a copy to providers or e-mail a copy to family members.

If you have questions or need technical assistance, please call Moda Health customer service at 866-923-0409.  Depending on when you last were issued a new card, your e-card may still have the old ODS logo on it.  Not to worry – the member information on the digital card is still correct.

MODA MEDICAL HOME

The medical home model is becoming more popular in healthcare, not just in the OEBB plans, but nationwide.  A medical home, also called a patient-centered medical home, is a team-based approach to healthcare.  Under this model, you’ll have one doctor or primary care provider who works with the rest of your team to bring the best treatments to you.  In a traditional medical model, an individual might see multiple providers who have not had a formal way to work with each other to provide efficient and consistent care.  A medical home is designed to keep all providers on the same page.

Effective October 1, 2013, you can opt to participate in the Moda Medical Home model.  The fee structure for this system requires copayments – your deductible is waived.  The level of copayment required depends on what type of service you are seeking and which plan you are enrolled in.

For additional information, visit the Moda website for OEBB members:  https://www.modahealth.com/oebb/members/.  By clicking on the Medical home link on the left side of the page you can learn more and search for a medical home provider.  If you already have a doctor and want to know if he/she is participating in this model, you can run a search using the Find Care option on the Moda website.  A blue medical home designation will show up next to the name of participants.

MOODHELPER – OVERCOMING DEPRESSION ONLINE

Depression affects 1 in 10 adults in the United States.  If it is something that you would like to address in your life, MoodHelper is a new resource available to OEBB members.

MoodHelper is an online program for adults who want help managing their depression.  Going at your own pace, in the comfort of your own home, you can learn skills to overcome depression that have been effective for millions of people.  You can access MoodHelper from your own computer, day or night.

OEBB members age 18 and older enrolled in an OEBB medical plan can participate at no cost, and participation will qualify as one of the wellness actions for the Healthy Futures program.

For program details, you can download the MoodHelper flyer, which includes the OEBB member invitation code:  http://www.oregon.gov/oha/OEBB/docs/2013/MoodHelper_flyer.pdf

EUGENE RUNNING COMPANY – RUNNING/WALKING GROUPS

The Eugene Running Company wants to inspire and invigorate your passion for running.  A great way to stay motivated is to run with others.  Runners of all levels — beginners to veterans — are invited to join the free weekly group runs from the store.

The ERC records your mileage that can add up to special mileage awards starting with the 100-mile club shirtWhatever your personal fitness goal, you should be able to find a group to help you get there.  4J’s own Eliza Drummond started out in the Couch to 5k group and now runs marathons!

While running is fun and healthy, there are inherent risks to health and safety.  You are advised to consult with your health care provider prior to starting to run.

If you prefer walking to running, the ERC has an expanding program of walking groups for walkers of all levels.

For more information or to find a group for you, please call 541-344-6399 or visit http://www.eugenerunningcompany.com/home/erc1/index.html.

TRY SETTING A RANGE GOAL

The November 2013 issue of the Berkeley Wellness Letter reports that people trying to lose weight, exercise more, or achieve other health-related goals are more likely to stick with the program if they set a range as a target rather than a single number.  For instance, you might set a goal to lose 2 to 4 pounds next week, instead of a goal to lose 3 pounds next week.  In a series of studies reported in the October issue of the Journal of Consumer Research, such “range goals” improved motivation and engagement compared to single goals, even when the short-term results were similar.  A range goal can offer the best of both worlds because of its flexibility.  The researchers said a range goal could be seen as both attainable (the low end) and challenging (the high end).  Set a range goal for yourself and see what you think!

CHECK YOUR PAYSTUB!

If you have not already done so, please take a few minutes to verify that your insurance deductions and FSA plan elections are correct on your 10/31/13 wage statement.  In the pre-tax deductions box of your electronic paystub (in the right hand column) you should see the new rates for health insurance (unless you elected a plan with no monthly cost to you).  If you enrolled in the Flexible Spending Account program you should see the amount(s) you elected in the same section of your paystub.  Be sure and look in the column marked current for the October information.

The information in this newsletter has been summarized.  It is presented as information – not advice or counsel.  In all instances, the benefits, conditions, and limitations as outlined in the 4J Master Contracts prevail over this representation.  Please refer to your Benefits booklet or master contracts available at the District offices for additional information regarding your benefits plans.
