March 8, 2011 – 6:00pm – 7:40pm
Location: 4J Education Center, 200 N. Monroe St., Eugene
Candidates: The Eugene School District is searching for a new superintendent. A nationwide executive search garnered an excellent pool of strong candidates, from which the school board has narrowed the field to three finalist candidates. In alphabetical order, they are:
- Dr. Sheldon Berman, currently Superintendent at Jefferson County Public Schools in Louisville, Kentucky
- Mr. Michael Munoz, currently Chief Academic Officer with Des Moines Public Schools in Des Moines, Iowa
- Dr. Darlene Schottle, currently Superintendent at Kalispell Public Schools in Kalispell, Montana
Additional information about the candidates is available here: Finalist Candidates
Format: Each candidate will attend the forum for 30 minutes, so please plan to attend the full time to hear from all three finalists. The first candidate will be there from 6–6:30 p.m., the second from 6:35–7:05 p.m. and the third from 7:10–7:40 p.m.
Each candidate will be asked to speak for a few minutes about his or her experience and interest in our district. Questions and answers will follow. Attendees will be invited to submit written questions to our search consultant, who will then ask questions of the candidate.
After hearing from the candidates, everyone attending will be asked to provide brief written feedback on comment cards. This input will be shared with the board.
