I am John Pledger and I teach Academic Skills.  I am also the Head Coach for the Freshman Football team.  This is my eighth year teaching and coaching at Mtn Brook Jr High.

I am originally from Hokes Bluff, AL and graduated with a Master's Degree from Jacksonville State University and have an Ed.S. in Teacher Leadership and a M.A. in Instructional Leadership from the University of Montevallo.  I have teaching certifications in Social Studies, Health and Driver Education.

I have been teaching and coaching for 25 years, including serving as defensive coordinator at Oak Mountain HS, Foley HS, Homewood HS and Chelsea HS. 

I am married with 5 children (Alec-11, Ayden-11, Anna Claire-10, Adelaide-8 and Anderson-7) and we live in Mountain Brook.  So when I am not teaching and coaching, I am spending time with my family, usually playing outside.
