Mrs. Tami Genry

Mrs. Tami Genry is in her sixth year as librarian at Mountain Brook Junior High. She began her teaching career with Hoover City Schools, teaching fourth grade at Trace Crossings before staying home for several years to be a full-time mom. When returning to the classroom, Mrs. Genry taught special education, fourth, and fifth grades for several years, before accepting a position as library media specialist and technology coordinator at Oak Mountain High School. Following her time at Oak Mountain, Mrs. Genry was the library media specialist and technology coordinator at Helena Intermediate School (2005-2016). Earning her B.A. in elementary education from the University of Montevallo, she continued her education at the University of Alabama where she completed her M.S. in Library and Information Science with an emphasis in school libraries, and in 2011 she became a National Board Certified Teacher. In 2009, Mrs. Genry was  recognized as Teacher of the Year for her school, and she received the Herman Moore LAMP Award of Exceptional Service in 2014. In addition, she was the recipient of the Owens-Young Technology Innovation Award and the Chiquita Marbury Technology Innovation Award in 2015.

Mrs. Genry loves to use a variety of teaching strategies to challenge and engage students in order to increase learning. She enjoys professional development, reading, knitting, travelling, spending time with family, and a good cup of coffee.
