Mr. Drew Bernd

Drew Bernd is beginning his seventh year at Mountain Brook Junior High. His first three years were as an aide in the special education department and this year he will begin as a physical education teacher. Drew is originally from Waupaca, Wisconsin and relocated down south to attend Mississippi State University’s Professional Golf Management Program. He received two degrees from MSU, his Bachelor of Science in 2009 and his Master of Science in 2012, both with an emphasis on teaching and coaching. Drew previously worked at the collegiate level in the basketball programs at Mississippi State and at East Mississippi Community College.

Drew has been a part of the coaching staff at MBJH and MBHS in a variety of roles over the past 3 years. He had previous roles coaching girls golf and boys basketball at the junior high level. Drew’s current coaching roles include junior high football, girl’s varsity golf at MBHS, and junior varsity boy’s basketball at MBHS. Drew is excited to continue his coaching experience in the Mountain Brook School system.

Drew is thrilled to begin his new role as a PE teacher to further his passion for physical fitness. He strives to develop students into more healthy individuals, both mentally and physically throughout their lives. His experience includes working with students of all ages and skill levels, and desires to lead them into becoming great athletes as well as productive individuals in all aspects of life. Drew’s commitment is to motivate and support his students throughout their student careers and beyond.

Drew is married to a Huntsville native, Morgan, and they have a baby girl named Finley. They enjoy spending time outdoors with their two golden retrievers, Nick and Penny.
