Ms. Courtney Capocci
Bonjour! I am honored to be starting my 3rd year as part of the Mountain Brook Junior High family for the 2022-23 school year. I have been teaching French in the public school setting for 6 years and have over 20 years of experience tutoring children and adults in the language. I was fortunate to be chosen to teach English to French students in 2001-2002 in a suburb of Paris called Meaux. In addition, I studied French for one summer in Dijon to complete some of my undergraduate coursework and have traveled all over Europe and Quebec. For me, French serves the purpose of opening doors to meet and communicate with amazing people from all over the world and to broaden my understanding of myself and the world around me. My goal is to broaden students' awareness of the diverse cultures of the French-speaking world while fostering a love for the beautiful language. Learning French can help your child become an important part of the global community. According to https://www.diplomatie.gouv.fr, French is the second most widely learned foreign language after English, and the fifth most widely spoken language in the world. French is also the only language, alongside English, that is taught in every country in the world.
I feel privileged to have your son or daughter in my class this year. Thank you for allowing me to be a part of your child's French learning journey!
