CPM Geometry – Chapter 5

Completing the Triangle Toolkit
In this chapter, students revisit similar slope triangles, this time focusing on relationships between the legs and the hypotenuse of these right triangles in order to develop the sine and cosine ratios. The themes are Pythagorean triples and law of sine and cosine.  During this chapter:

  • Students will find special cases of right triangles using Pythagorean triples.
  • Students will build a toolkit to find the missing parts of a triangle including non-right triangles.
  • Students will develop the law of sines and law of cosines.
