In this chapter, students are introduced to the fundamentals of designing, and the limitations of, studies and experiments.  The themes are: randomization and normal distribution. During this chapter students will:

  • Master statistical functions (technology) including: box plots, histograms, summarizing data numerically, and linking sums.
  • Determine the difference between a valid survey and an observational study.
  • Construct relative frequency histograms and will model them with normal distributions to find proportions and percentiles.(calculator)
