CPM Algebra 1 – Chapter 6

Modeling Two-Variable Data

In this chapter students will begin by collecting data that is scattered due to natural measurement variability. The theme of the chapter is modeling two variable data and describing it. During this chapter the students will be able to:

  • Use a line of best fit which they have “eyeballed,” to interpret the slope and y-intercept in context.
  • Find a line of best fit by creating the Least Squares Regression Line with their calculator.
  •  Describe the association between two variables (form, direction, strength, and outliers)and graph residuals, calculate upper and lower bounds, find correlation coefficients and R-squared, and interpret these quantities in the context of the situation.
